Because who needs apps when you have a classic game?
In a surprising move, Samsung has announced that its latest phone, the Galaxy S24, will come with a free game of Prince of Persia pre-installed. The game, which was first released in 1989, will be included as a throwback to a simpler time when mobile phones were just starting to become popular.
“We know that people love their apps, but we also know that sometimes it’s nice to just relax and play a classic game,” said a Samsung spokesperson. “Prince of Persia is a timeless classic that we think will be a great addition to our new phone.”
The game will be installed in a separate folder on the phone, titled “Samsung Classics.” Users can access the game by clicking on the folder and selecting the game icon. The game will be free to play, but users will need to purchase the full version if they want to save their progress.
While some are applauding Samsung’s decision to include the game, others are questioning the move. “Is this really necessary?” asked one Twitter user. “I feel like there are better things they could be doing with that space on the phone.”
Despite the mixed reactions, Samsung is standing by its decision. “We think this will be a great way to introduce a new generation to a classic game,” said the spokesperson. “And who knows, maybe it will even inspire some developers to create new games in the same vein.”
