The latest from the world of Trump’s legal troubles
In a scathing op-ed for the New York Times, former Trump attorney and fixer Michael Cohen has blasted the current state of the president’s legal team. According to Cohen, the team is in disarray, with little coordination or communication between its members.
Cohen, who spent over a decade working for Trump, knows a thing or two about the inner workings of the Trump Organization. And according to him, the current legal team is a far cry from the well-oiled machine that he once knew.
“The current state of the Trump legal team is a disaster,” Cohen writes. “There is no communication, no coordination and, worst of all, no leadership.”
Cohen’s comments come as Trump faces a slew of legal troubles, from the ongoing impeachment inquiry to a host of legal challenges related to his business interests. And according to Cohen, the legal team’s lack of cohesion is only making things worse.
“The team is in disarray, with lawyers jumping ship left and right,” Cohen writes. “It’s no wonder that the president is facing so many legal challenges – his own lawyers can’t even keep up with the chaos.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time that Trump’s legal team has faced criticism. In recent months, several high-profile lawyers have left the team, citing differences with the president and his approach to the law.
But according to Cohen, the problems run deeper than just a few departing lawyers. “The rot starts at the top,” he writes. “The president has always been his own worst enemy, and his legal team is no exception.”
So what’s the solution? Cohen suggests that Trump needs to bring in a new team of lawyers who can work together to mount a proper defense. But given the president’s track record of hiring and firing lawyers, it’s unclear whether such a team would be able to stick around long enough to make a difference.
In the meantime, the chaos surrounding Trump’s legal team shows no signs of letting up. And as the president continues to face legal challenges from all sides, one thing is clear: the situation is only going to get worse before it gets better.
